THE HEART OF THE MATTER

As you probably know, heart disease is much more common than it used to be. If we do not die of germ diseases, we live until some vital part of the body wears out. The heart is often the first organ to break down. Some general guidelines will help to make your heart last longer:

Good food is needed for any system of the body.  [  “I (Jesus) am the living bread that came down out of heaven. If any one eats of this bread, he shall live forever:’ John 6:51 ]

Being overweight is also hard on the heart. [ “Be careful, or your hearts will  be overweighed and burdened with  drunkenness and the worries of life:’  Luke 21:34 ]

It is believed that too much fat in the diet causes hardening of the arteries of the heart. [“Today, if you hear His voice,  do not harden your hearts as  you did in the rebellion:’ Hebrews 3:15 ]

Nervous tension leads to heart trouble. [“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God:’ Philippians 4:6 ]

Heart felt facts

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve:’ Jeremiah 17:7

”Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”   Proverbs 4:23

“For the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts.” 1 Chronicles 28:9

“Knowing their thoughts, ‘Jesus said, Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?” Matthew 9:4

“The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.” Genesis 6:5

“Oh that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commandments always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!” Deuteronomy 5:29

   The Cure:

God can give you a new heart

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”      Ezekiel 36:26

“That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord; and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved:’ Romans 10:9,10

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water:’ Hebrews 10:22

Do not let your heart be troubled: Trust in God!
