PEACE BE UNTO YOU

Peace – how sweet and soothing a word! Peace something the human soul longs and sighs for. Millions are searching for it, but it seems a million miles away from them. Peace riches cannot buy it, wisdom cannot find it, and fame cannot allure it. Peace may be you too are looking for it, without much success. How often, because you lack this peace, have you wanted to take out your frustration on others, or perhaps you have even thought of taking your own life? You may try to find peace through drugs; but it is a proven fact that once the effect of the drug is worn off, such peace just disappears into thin air. Some try Transcendental meditation or Yoga. A medical test made recently on those who had been practicing T.M. for over eighteen months, revealed that they had twice as many psychological disorders as those who had not undergone these practices. Some try to escape by living the life of a recluse, only to find that the cause of disquiet is not so much in others as in themselves. A retreat from the world had only brought them face to face with the corruption in their own nature. What is the purpose of life, if we cannot find peace and serenity in the face of our daily problems?

The reason why we present this tract to you is that we want to introduce you to the One; the only One Who can give you a genuine and lasting peace. He says, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you…Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. These are not merely empty words, but words of the One Who gave His very life to prove to you that He loves you, and cares for your well being. No one can give you peace, except he has it in himself. There is One Who possesses and promises to give you peace. He is called the Prince of Peace. His name is Jesus.

You may say, “But Jesus isn’t real to me; how can I receive something from someone I can’t even see?” If Jesus was real to you, you would already have this peace. The reason He is not real to you is, that there is something separating you from Him and the peace He wants to give you; that ‘something’ is your own sin. Deep down in our hearts we all know what is right and wrong, and when we ignore that voice of the conscience inside which tells us not to do certain things, we are actually turning a deaf ear to the voice of the One Who is wanting to give us His peace. Just think a little on the following quotations: “If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness “like the waves of the sea”. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”.

It is up to you now. If you really want peace, what you need to do is to turn away from anything you know to be wrong in your life, and ask Jesus to forgive you. He is well able and willing to forgive any sin you have committed, for He gave His life on the cross to bear the penalty for sins yours and mine. Then make a decision to obey God in whatever He may demand of you. If you do this, you will find the real peace, which is beyond your comprehension, flooding your being, and this peace will never leave you. When your sin is removed, then Jesus the Prince of Peace will become real to you.

Peace, deliverance from sin and sickness, all come together. Jesus suffered and died on the cross, not only to give us deliverance from sin, but also from sicknesses and diseases. When you receive Him as your Lord and Saviour, He brings not only forgiveness and peace to your soul, but also healing to your body. King David, who had this experience sang, “Praise the Lord O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases”. Be sure, when you meet Jesus, the Prince of Peace and receive His peace, fear, worry and torment will simply vanish away from your heart. Also with your life, you will be able to bring a measure of peace and serenity to a world torn by war and hatred.

PRAYER “Lord Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace, and I need Your peace. I know it is my sin that separates me from You. Please forgive my sins and wash my sinful heart clean with Your precious blood. Today, I accept You as my God and my Saviour. I am ready to do whatever You tell me, but please help me. Heal me Lord and give me Your peace. Amen.”
